Re:  Account of [your name]; Account Number ______________

Dear [Name of Owner or Manager]:

The purpose of this letter is to make a formal complaint against your agency for debt collection activities in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.  Specifically, last week I received a postcard that revealed both the amount of the debt that I owed and its delinquent status.

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act states specifically that communicating with a consumer regarding a debt by post card is not allowed.

If this behavior continues, I will report your firm to the FTC, ConsumerFinance.gov and my state's Attorney General's Office,  and explore all legal remedies available to me under the FDCPA.

Sincerely,

Your name
Your address
